Students save yourself some £££ with these tips!
11 October 2019
The weekend is almost back upon us and with it often being the most fun but also the most expensive part of the week we have some money saving tips for you; whether you’re studying at Swansea University or UWTSD this year or in the upcoming 2020 academic year, these tips could save you £££ during your uni years in Swansea:
– If you take a bus to university, firstly, buy a student day ticket which is £3.50. Secondly, do not throw away the ticket as you can find a McDonalds deal for £1.99 on the back of your ticket.
– Download the UNiDAYS app. You can get discounts on Nike, Adidas, New Look, JD, Superdrug, The Body Shop and many others.
-Swansea University offers student internships during the studying year and if you don’t have a car and a placement is far – you can visit the employability office in Singleton Park, Keir Hardie building. They may be able to cover your expenses, such as bus tickets.
-The Gym in the centre of Swansea offers a LIVE IT membership which allows you to bring a friend up to 4 times per month. If your friends visit the gym don’t hesitate to ask them for the invitation.
-Amazon has a Prime student membership which offers six months trial including FREE one-day delivery, Prime video, Prime music, and exclusive discounts.
-If you don’t need the goods you bought before, don’t throw them away, you can sell them. Many students buy second-hand things.
-Take cash only on nights out. It could seem strict but it works.
-When you visit the doctors at University Health Centre Swansea and the doctor gives you the prescription – don’t forget to show it in the pharmacy, as then you get your medicines for free.
-If you want to buy clothes online, for example, you can ask for free delivery to stores nearby with click & collect. Do not pay for home delivery.
-Don’t buy water on the campus. You can find water coolers in cafes and the library. Just take a water bottle with you.
-If you cannot live without a cup of coffee in the morning, go to Greggs. Hot drinks there are priced from £1.80, with a 20p discount if you use your reusable cup (or McDonalds where coffee starts at 79p!)
Have an awesome and value packed weekend! We’ll be back with more soon..
