Swansea Sporting Success

The teams are out and fighting again as BUCS begins for the 2017/18 academic year. With 57 teams for Swansea University entered into BUCS leagues, there have been 75 wins so far. Here we’ll look at some of our success so far…

Starting with the football teams: The women’s 1st team are top of BUCS league 2 and the men’s 1st team are top of the BUCS south premier league following a recent 4-0 win over the University of Chichester.

In lacrosse, the men’s 1st team are placing 3rd in the Western league 1 and the women’s 1stteam are top of the Western league 2 after a recent 20-11 win over Cardiff Met.

In their most recent game, the American football team beat the University of Birmingham 48-22 putting them 2nd in the South premier league.


At the BUCS short course swimming championships, the swimming team finished a respectable 8th place, the highest finishing welsh university.

A 44-23 win over Bristol University 3rd team puts the women’s netball 1st team up to 3rdposition in the Western league 2.

Men’s hockey 1st team is smashing the Western league 1 up in 2nd place while the women’s first team are currently 1st in the Western league 2. Both the men and women’s 2nd teams are top of the Western league 3, eyeing up a promotion.

Winning all their matches so far, the women’s tennis 1st team are topping the Western league 1; the men’s team placing 6th, also in Western league 1.

In rugby, the men’s 1st team are currently 7th in the South league while the women’s 1stteam top their Western league 1 with a recent 46-21 win over Bath 1st team.

The university’s triathlon team recently competed in the BUCS duathlon championships. Finishing in 25th was the men’s team while the women’s team finished in 20th position.
